REGISTRAR

 

Dr. Sydney Chukwuemeka Enyindah is the 6th Registrar of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt (formerly, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt).  As an accomplished University Administrator, his humility and noble baarHckground has guided his actions in his interaction with humanity.

 

Born into the ancient Echonwere Royal House of Okporowo-Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on 25th May, 1963, Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah started his primary education at St. Paul’s State School, Okporowo-Ogbakiri.  He proceeded to County Grammar School Ikwerre/Etche where he obtained the West African School Certificate.  He later attended the famous Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and took a PhD degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Igbinedion University, Okada in 2019.

 

Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah has had a distinguished career from his early days as a young Administrative Officer.  His duty tour has taken him to several Departments and Units of the University, amongst which are:

 

  • Faculty Officer – (1996-1998)
  • Establishment Officer – (2006-2010)
  • Deputy Registrar/Secretary, Post Graduate School – (2011-2014)
  • Deputy Registrar/Students Affairs Officer – (2014-2015)
  • Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor – (2015-2019)
  • Coordinator, IPPU/PRO – (2016-2018)

He was promoted to the rank of Director in 2017 thereby becoming one of the pioneer Directors of Administration in the University.  He was subsequently appointed Registrar of the University in 2019 by the Governor of Rivers State and Visitor of the University, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa), after a competitive and transparent selection process by the Governing Council.  This paved the way for him to exhibit his admirable Administrative qualities and sagacity.  These impressive credentials are captured in the person of Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah, as he deploys a broad vision of life to drive Nigeria’s premier State owned University as Registrar.

By virtue of his position as Registrar, he is Secretary to Council, Secretary to Senate, Secretary to Congregation and Secretary to Convocation as well as Secretary to all Statutory Committees of the University.  In these capacities, the Administrative ingenuity of this amiable personality has been amply displayed.

Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah is a member of several professional bodies locally and internationally and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators.  He has been honoured severally with distinguished merit awards amongst which are:

  • African Waves Magazine, Best Outstanding Human Relations Excellent Merit Award (2017).
  • Episcopal Recognition as Public Servant of the Year, 2021 by Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta (Diocese of Ikwerre).
  • Rotary Club International as Paul Harris Fellow (2021).
  • Rivers State Student Union Government Award of Excellence (2021).
  • Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, Nkpolu, Outstanding humanity Service Award – (2022).

Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah has flair for community service.  He was the Chairman of Okporowo Town Council, the 2nd tier of Rulership in his community.  He holds the Chieftaincy title of Eze Omeido of Okporowo-Ogbakiri.  He served at one time, as Secretary, Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State-Owned Universities, Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) RSUST Branch as well as National Secretary, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). 

Dr. Sydney C. Enyindah is married to Stella, who is a Lecturer and the marriage is blessed with three lovely children.
