Professor Eric Chikweru Amadi holds the West African School Certificate (WAEC); Nigeria Certificate of Nigeria (NCE); B.A.Ed; B.Ed Hons; M.Ed. and Ph.D. These he obtained from Government Secondary School, Abua; Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt, University of Port Harcourt, University of Calabar and University of Port Harcourt. Through these institutions, he acquired some management and leadership skills as Prefect, Vice- President of National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), University of Calabar.

Professor Eric Amadi started his teaching career as an Anxilliary teacher in 1979 at Government Secondary School, Isiokpo. At the end of his National Service at Maiduguri in 1984, he was posted to St Aquinas Secondary School, Elele while on in service. He later joined the Rivers State College of Education in 1992 as a Lecturer. In 2005, he was transferred to the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology, (now the Rivers State University) where he rose to the rank of a Professor in 2018. He specializes in Educational Management and Planning.
In 2008, he won the Global Award in Germany on Inclusive Education by Support Africa International Award to Sustainable Development. In 2012, he was Chairman, Presidential Visitation Panel on Federal College of Education Pankshin (Jos). He had served as Ag. Head of Department for two terms in the University. He has written several books and has well over 92 articles in local and international journals.
