PROFILE OF THE DIRECTOR OF ICT
Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, the current Director of ICT, holds the West African School Certificate (WASC, 1984) and the B.Ed. (Economics, 1988), MBA (Management, 1996), and PhD (Organizational Behaviour, 2007) degrees. These he obtained from Government Secondary School, Abissa; University of Ibadan through the then College of Education, now Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt; and Rivers State University of Science and Technology, now Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt respectively. Through these institutions, he acquired some leadership skills as Senior Prefect, National President of the National Union of River State Students (NURSS) and President of the Post Graduate Students Association (PGSA).
He is a teacher, tutor and lecturer. He started his teaching career during his NYSC in 1988. At the end of his national service, he joined the Rivers State Post-Secondary Schools Board as Economics Master in 1990; and was posted to Opobo town as Economics Teacher. A number of teaching centers, including those of the National Teachers Institute, in Port Harcourt enjoyed his tutorial services between 1991 and 1997. In April 1997, he moved his services to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, now Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Orowukwo, Port Harcourt when he was employed as an Assistant Lecturer. From there he rose to the position of Professor of Management in 2018; with research interest cutting across Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, Industrial Relations and Business Research. He is an international award-winning scholar with several publications and other research outputs.
Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi has held a number of offices in his career in the University; at the Departmental, Faculty, and University levels. Examples of these include being Head of Department for two Departments over a period of 7 years, Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, University Orator, Dean of Student Affairs, Alumni Representative in the 12th Governing Council of the University, and the President of the Senior Staff Club of the University. He is also serving on other Boards outside the University; including the Board of the Graduate Business School, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt. He is a Visiting Scholar, External Examiner and External Assessor to some institutions across Nigeria.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Management, and the Academy of Management of Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Natural and Human Resources of Nigeria. He is a Certified Management Consultant and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria. His consultancy experiences span across several years and organizations. Right from the days of his MBA studentship, his mentors drafted him into consultancy. In addition to rendering consultancy services in his personal capacity, he has served or is serving as a consultant with Anpal Associates, International Centre for Management Research and Training (CIMRAT), Waldem Holdings, Ollor Consult, Cee and Gee Consult, Nigeria Employees Consultative Association (NECA) etc. Through these consultancy firms and others or alone, he has provided services to organizations such as Shell, LNG, Agip, OMPADEC (now NDDC), Pelligrini Catering (Nig) Ltd, Global Gas Refining Ltd, NUPENG, Rivers State Government, UN Agencies, Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development etc.
Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, who is from Ogoloma in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, is a traditional ruler (Chief Ogulacha II). He is happily married to Mrs. Victoria Ayah Zeb-Obipi with lovely children.
