Dr. KPEA-UE, Bariyira Simple is a legal practitioner based in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria with deep-seated passion for teaching and mentoring. Dr. Simple is a young and an accomplished first class graduate who has swiftly risen to prominence in the realm of legal academia having exhibited uncommon mastery and interest in legal pedagogy.
His teaching career started in 2019 specializing in Environmental Law, Energy Law and Human Rights Law. He has crafted his name in the hearts of his students by demystifying complex legal concepts thereby fostering a new generation of legal minds. He has authored over 16 published articles in reputable journals contributing immensely to legal literature. In 2017, he distinguished himself as the best graduating student of the Faculty of Law, Rivers State University, Port-Harcourt out of the maiden three first class graduands since inception in 1986. He was awarded the Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi’s Prize for the Best Graduating Student in Commercial Law, Hon. Justice Iche Ndu (Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 12th Governing Council)’s Prize and Dean’s Prize respectively for the Best Graduating Student in Law in 2017.
Dr. Simple’s influence permeates beyond the classroom. He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port-Harcourt Branch, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT), Association of Environmental Lawyers of Nigeria (AELN). He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Petroleum and Environmental Law from the Rivers State University where he is currently a lecturer.
He equally serves as the Secretary and Legal Adviser to the Centre for Petroleum, Pollution Control and Corrosion Studies (CEFPACS), an organization that serves as a center of excellence that develop sustainable research for clients in Energy, Environment, Process, and Manufacturing, Information Technology, Defence, Legal and Policy sectors.
