CURRENT RANK: Associate Professor of Human Rights and Disability Rights
Dr. Obraori Nmabunwa Peters Adiela (LL.B, BL, LL.M, Ph.D, BEd) is an academic member of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, at the Faculty of Law, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. She joined the Faculty in 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Business Law, where she taught Revenue Law within the Faculty.
She also taught Law of Contract and Torts, and Land Law to students of Estate Management in Faculty of Environmental Science; and Business Law to students of Office and Information Management Department in the Faculty of Management Sciences.
In 2023, she was moved to the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, where she now teaches International Humanitarian Law at the undergraduate level. At the postgraduate level, she teaches Women and the Law as well as International Human Rights Law.
She is presently an Associate Professor of Human Rights and Disability Rights. Her interest in Disability Rights started during her Ph.D research when she focused on women with disabilities in Nigeria from a human rights perspective. She has several articles in international journals on Disability rights and human rights to her credit.
She is a sign language interpreter and loves to interact in sign language.
