Employment Relations and Human Resource Management

The Department of Employment Relations and Human Resource Management was created out of the Department of Business Administration, which was the main pillar of the former Department of Management where the Management Programme was run as a B.Sc. Conscious of the vision of the University, the department of Employment Relations and Human Resources Management seeks to produce highly knowledgeable, skillful, socially responsible, and entrepreneurial Human Resource Personnel who will contribute significantly to the development of the business organizations in Nigeria and Africa by guiding business institutions within global parameters for excellence and creativity.

The Department runs programmes that lead to the award of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), Post Graduate Diploma (PGD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil.), Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Employment Relations and Human Resources Management (ER& HRM). The programmes are designed to provide fundamental knowledge and then deepen the students’ grasp of basic knowledge, attitude and skills in the various competence domains of Human Resource Management as well as Employment Relations and their application within and across contexts. It also introduces them to the techniques and tools of research, develops in them the spirit of enquiry and generally prepares them to face challenges and solve problems in the field of Employment Relations and Human Resources Management.
