Professor O.V.C. Okene is a distinguished and renowned Professor of Law with over 25 years of university teaching experience. With a PhD in Law from the prestigious University of Essex ,United Kingdom I have dedicated my career to both academia and legal practice, contributing to the development of the legal landscape through research, teaching, and consultancy. Over the past ten years, I have held several leadership roles, including Head of Departments and Dean of the Faculty of Law. These experiences have strengthened my ability to lead multidisciplinary research teams, manage academic programs, and mentor the next generation of legal professionals.

My research interests cover diverse areas within law, including international and comparative labour law, human rights, trade union law, company law,  commercial law and consumer protection, business law, law of torts , international labour standards, conflict studies, inter – disciplinary and socio – legal studies, intellectual property  law, cultural and creative industry legal frameworks, social justice—fields in which I have published extensively. My articles have appeared in reputable international and national journals, and I have authored and contributed to several academic books that explore critical issues in legal theory and practice. These publications reflect my commitment to advancing scholarships that have practical relevance and societal impact.

Beyond academia, I have served as a consultant to various national and international organizations, including UNESCO, providing expertise on legal reforms, policy development, and human rights advocacy. These engagements have afforded me a global perspective on legal issues, particularly in areas like labour law and social justice, which remain central to my scholarly pursuits.

A member of several professional bodies, I belong to the International Bar Association, Nigeran Bar Association, Industrial Law Society, Society of Legal Scholars, Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, and the International Association of Legal Ethics, amongst others.
