Prof. Uche Jack- Osimiri

Uche Jack-Osimiri is a Professor of 24 years standing. He was educated for LLB (1980-83) at Ealing College (University of West London), LLM (1983-84) at Queen Mary College (University of London). He is an elder Solicitor admitted to practice Law in Nigeria on 21 August 1985. With LLB, LLM, BL, he joined University teaching as a Lecturer Grade 2 in December 1986 and with diligence, he became a Professor in October 2000. With his unquenchable passion for learning, he achieved an Academic PhD (2009-2014) in comparative property Law at University of Galway Ireland. He taught in 6 Universities in Nigeria – Old Imo (now ABSU), Ado-Ekiti, Ebonyi, RSU, Adjunct Professorial positions at Uyo, Calabar and Joint Tax Board Training School Lokoja, Akwanga, Kaduna Study Centers.

He served as HOD Private Law University of Ado-Ekiti (1998-2000), Foundation Dean (2000-2003) Ebonyi State University Abakaliki, Dean (2003-2007) Rivers State University. He has international reputation. He delivered research papers in local and international conferences.

A committed researcher with sterling records of performance, he has specialist research experiences in Real Property, Taxation, Commercial Law (with biases in insurance, economic crime), Clinical Legal Education etc.

A scholar with penchant for details and analysis, he has to his credit, over 100 publications comprising Law books, books chapters, articles in refereed journals in Nigeria, Britain, Australia, India, Zambia, Austria, New Zealand, West Indian State of Jamaica, Germany, Ireland, etc. His papers appear in notable journals such as Justice, Gravitas, JPPL (University of Lagos), University of Benin Law Journal, International Legal Practitioner Journal of International Bar Association, Journal of Money Laundering international, Journal of Financial Crime International, Journal of Professional Legal Education Australasian, OPEC Review, Zambia Law Journal, European Journal of Legal Education Germany, West Indian Law journal Jamaica, New Zealand Journal of Jurisprudence (University of Waikato Hamilton), African Journal of International and Comparative Law (University of Edinburgh), Commonwealth Law Review and many others.

The extent of his experiences and enterprises are vividly demonstrated by wider range of authorities he drew from Nigerian and many countries.A freelance journalist, he contributed articles for the resolution of controversies in Caribbean Times, Guardian, Sunray, Mirror, Tide, All-Africa, Pilot, Nigerian Lawyer, Surveillance and Nation newspapers. He served as a member of the Law Review Committee (1999-2004) that reviewed Laws of Rivers State from 1963 to 2004.

He is a member of Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, Fellows Chartered Institute of Taxation, Chartered Insurance Institute, Society of Advanced Legal Studies (University of London), Society of Legal Scholars (UK/Ireland), Association of Law Teachers (UK/Ireland), Irish Society of International Comparative Law, Commonwealth Legal Education Association, Australian/Asian Tax Teachers Association, Canadian Tax Foundation etc.

He served as external examiner and assessor to Universities in Nigeria and United Kingdom. His hobbies include academics, travelling, charitable works and Christian music.
