Professor Mabel Otivbo Izzi,
Professor of Gender and Human Rights Law
Professor Mabel Otivbo Izzi is a distinguished scholar and Professor of Law at Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. She holds an LL.B. from Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma), a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, and both LL.M. and Ph.D. degrees in Law from Ambrose Alli University.
She began her academic career in 1988 and has taught at Ambrose Alli University, Rivers State University, and as an Adjunct Lecturer at Niger Delta University.
At Rivers State University, Professor Izzi has served in various leadership and committee roles. She has also been Acting Head, Department of Public Law (2009–2014) and Acting Head, Department of Private and Property Law (2015–2016).
A prolific researcher, she has published over 80 scholarly papers in reputable national and international journals. Her research interests include Gender Law, Human Rights Law, Family Law, Child Law, Law of Torts, Medical law nd Customary Law.
Professor Izzi is a Knight of St. Mary (KSM) and a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers
