CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: RSU STUDENT CHAPTER WINS SPE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL AWARD
We are thrilled to announce and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the SPE Rivers State University (RSU) Students Chapter (Section 103, Port Harcourt), for their remarkable achievement in winning the SPE 2024 Presidential Award for Outstanding Student Chapter in Technical Dissemination, under the distinguished leadership of the current president, Comrade Evans Nuaka Monday. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and passion exemplified by the members of RSU’s SPE chapter of Section 103, Port Harcourt.
The SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) Presidential Award is a recognition of excellence in promoting technical knowledge and fostering professional development among students. RSU’s chapter has consistently demonstrated outstanding commitment to these principles, actively engaging its members in activities that enhance their understanding of the industry and prepare them for future challenges.
Winning this award reflects not only the efforts of the current members but also the leadership and guidance provided by the capacity Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Prof. J. G. Akpa, HOD, Engr. Dr. K. K. Dune, faculty advisors (Engr Dr. Mrs. A. S. Nwosi-Anele, (immediate past HOD), Engr. Dr. O. F. Wopara, Mr. D. U. Elikee, and all other Lecturers of the Department) and industry mentors who have supported the chapter throughout its journey. It underscores RSU’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of excellence in petroleum engineering and related fields.
Other notable awards won by the prestigious SPE students’ chapter of the Rivers State University, in addition to SPE 2024 Presidential Award, include:
- Rivers State University Chapter Certificate of Recognition for their outstanding performance and emerging 2ND PLACE in the ENERGY CHALLENGE at the 2023 SPE Port Harcourt Section Annual Students Energy Conference, December 2023.
- RSU Chapter Membership Award 2023 from SPE Nigeria Council, July 2023;
- Rivers State University of Science and Technology chapter Award for Participating in the 2015 PetroBowl Africa Regional Qualifier (14 March 2015).
- Rivers State University of Science and Technology chapter Award for Participating in the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional PetroBowl Qualifier which was held as part of 2014 STUDENTS TECHNICAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION (STCE), (24 – 26 April, 2014).
- Rivers State University of Science and Technology chapter Award for Participating in the 2014 PetroBowl Africa Regional Qualifier. (25 April, 2014).
