Registrar

Dr. Mrs. Idanyingi Ibinye Daminabo has been appointed Acting Registrar of Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, with effect from 15th December, 2025. Her appointment follows the successful completion of tenure by her predecessor, Dr. I.B.S. Harry. Prior to this elevation, Dr. Daminabo served as Director, Establishment Division, and was the most senior Director in the Administrative Cadre of the University.

Dr. Daminabo is a seasoned university administrator with over three decades of progressive experience in higher education management. She began her educational journey at St. Cyprian’s Primary School, Port Harcourt (1971–1976); Holy Rosary Secondary School, Port Harcourt (1976–1981); University of Port Harcourt (1983–1987); University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1991–1999); and Rivers State University (2014–2019). She holds a First School Leaving Certificate (1976); West African School Certificate (1981); Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Sociology (1987); Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sociology (1999); and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Management with specialization in Human Resources Management (2019). Her academic background in Sociology and Human Resources Management has provided a strong foundation for her distinguished career in university administration.

Dr. Daminabo joined Rivers State University in 1994 as Administrative Officer I through a transfer of service from Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, where she previously served as Administrative Officer II. Since joining the University, she has risen steadily through the ranks and has held several key positions, including Senior Assistant Registrar/Student Affairs Officer (1999–2003); Principal Assistant Registrar, General Administration (2003–2004); Principal Assistant Registrar, Senate Unit (2004–2007); Faculty Officer, Faculty of Management Sciences (February 2007–May 2007); Deputy Registrar/Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor (May 2007–August 2015); Deputy Registrar/College Secretary, College of Medical Sciences (2015–2017); Director, Establishment Division (2017–2025); and Acting Registrar (2025 to date).

Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional administrative competence, sound judgment, and dedication to institutional growth. As Director of Establishment, she oversaw staff matters relating to appointments, promotions, discipline, and welfare, contributing significantly to strengthening administrative processes and enhancing operational efficiency within the University.

Dr. Daminabo is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration; Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management and Leadership Development (FIPLD); Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM); and Member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA). Her appointment as Acting Registrar brings to the office a wealth of experience, institutional memory, and a strong commitment to service, as the University community looks forward to her continued contributions to the advancement of Rivers State University.
