Dr Nwaibu PTDF

A University Don, Dr.Nuka Nwiabu of the department of Math/Computer Science of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, has been honoured by PTDF as a distinguished scholar whose academic profile vindicates the funds transparent process of selecting good candidates for PhD scholarship. 

This was announced during the PTDF annual oil and gas research and award meeting held in March, 2014. In considering this award, the fund recounted Dr. Nwiabu's various meritorious academic awards.

It will be recalled that in 2011, Dr. Nwiabu won the Best paper in an IEEE Conference in Florida, USA. He also won an award for new innovation in computational approach to hydrate monitoring in subset oil and gas pipelines by Energy International in 2011. Dr. Nwiabu also won the student travel grant award for multiple authorship in an IEEE conference in Louisiana, USA in 2012. It is also on record that Dr. Nwiabu won the Best Candidate Recognition out of 12 African scholars in the 2013 MIT International Science and Technology initiatives fellowship.

Dr. Nwiabu did his PhD at the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK under the sponsorship of PTDF. In his letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. B.B Fakae, dated 18th March, 2014, Dr. Nwiabu thanked the University for giving him the assistance and platform to launch himself to this great academic height. The Vice-Chancellor has on behalf of the University congratulated Dr. Nwiabu for his impressive performance and the award and for bringing honour to the University.
